Shall We ダンス?
Last week, we watched the movie "Shall we Dance?" in Japanese class. It was really interesting! My favorite character was the guy who wore a wig, but I already forgot his name..!
Is it that strange in Japan for a businessman to like to dance? I wonder if guys feel that way in America and other countries, too. It's a shame, because dances like the Waltz are so pretty...
I hear there's an American remake of that movie, too, but I haven't seen it, so I can't compare them.
I want to see more Japanese movies! Does anyone have any Japanese movie recommendations?

Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids
Freaks Geeks and Cool Kids(FGCK?)
I read "Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids", but my high school was small and didn't have many students, so I didn't understand some of the groups from FGCK. Even so, there were some popular students similar to the ones in FGCK. For example, girls who were the most beautiful and boys who were the most athletic (and on sports teams) tended to be the most popular. Even if you were a "nerd" who studied a lot, if you were good-looking, you quickly became popular at my school. These good-looking people stood out in a crowd, so they became popular easily. I think the author of FGCK and I both agree that appearance is very important when it comes to popularity.
When a pretty girl at school would date an athletic guy (from a sports team), they'd become even more popular. Everyone at the school would know about the couple immediately. But since normal students didn't stand out as much, they weren't noticed or invited to the popular students' parties.
I'm very normal, so I don't know anything about the world of "popular people".
None of the above makes sense in any language, so please forgive my ramblings. OTL
ETC: Have you heard of the Japanese TV drama "Nobuta o Produce"? It's a drama about a popular boy's secret efforts to make a scary girl popular in her high school. It was interesting to see the differences between Japanese and American high schools and what makes students popular. The show is great, so I recommend it~
